Digital Reading Room
The Digital Reading Room (DRR) is an application intended to replace old technologies in traditional reading rooms. It allows users and record custodians to browse and see in a single location their entire collection with an easy to use interface and sensible number of features.

Because this desktop application was becoming vastly popular but was built by a developer with no UI/UX experience, FamilySearch gave me the task of bringing this tool to be inline with our brand. Here is a look at the product BEFORE:

I started the user flow by compiling the information into a more digestible approach. Most importantly, I gave the user a visual of how the Libraries and collections worked. This design has been a game changer for our DRR users, bringing them the value they needed.

The second pain-point was the downloader where users didn't understand that there were 3 separate steps to downloading the desktop application. Here is a look at the BEFORE:
